Building a Factory in Malaysia? How to Plan Your TNB Power Supply Before Purchasing the Land

For manufacturers planning to build a factory from the ground up, electricity supply should be assessed before purchasing the land, not when the factory design is finalised.

This becomes particularly important for power-intensive manufacturing involving CNC machinery, automated production lines, refrigeration, cleanrooms, heat treatment or other specialised equipment.

A factory requiring several thousand amps, for example, may require its own 11kV electrical infrastructure, rather than simply requesting a larger electricity connection from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

Here is a simplified three-step process for future factory owners.

Step 1: Establish Your Factory's Actual Power Requirements

Upon completion, the relevant systems must be inspected, tested and commissioned before electricity supply can be activated.
